Role: Design, IA, Headlines, Guidelines
Working closely with the xyberShield CEO and leadership team in a series of working sessions, we defined the primary target audiences as corporate CTOs and their support IT staff. We recognized that they are under constant attack and need to both feel in control, and, be aware of the best deterrents.

In creating the identity for the brand, the client thought it was important to communicate that the xyberShield software is always dynamically adapting and that it has a light footprint.
To convey these ideas the solution consists of two floating bands which express a sense of motion and were inspired in part by the ever-changing Aurora Borealis. The bands intersect to suggest the letter “x.” To communicate the applications AIs constant redefinition, the mark hints at the infinity symbol as well.
The look and feel developed to support the identity makes extensive use of a medium blue. The color creates a recognizable presence in the competitive set. Rather than the alarming red used frequently in the category, the blue also lends a desired calming and reassuring feeling to the audience which is under constant seige from hackers.
The look and feel was applied the the web site, brochure, data sheets, PowerPoint template, business papers and trade show booth banner.
Here are two of the alternate designs for the identity which were presented to the client in the original exploration. The direction with the circular motif is meant to invoke both a locking mechanism and a vigilant eye. The other direction, aside from the obvious “X,” is an option which conveys more solidity and impenetrability. To give a better sense of how each brand presentation would feel, exhibits were developed to show each identity in business cards and other applications.
